the monsters out of the closet

well tis been a while since i've been out and about without the family...but twas time...i packed up the ss puerco and headed west for big bend national park....agenda...not really...but a few things in mind...with no set in stone itinerary....so i unload numero uno son at school and i'm off.....customary stops along the way...beverage barn..food land etc....then its onward to Interstate 10 and 80mph bliss...2 1/2 hours from Junction puts me in Ft.Stockton, Texas...kind of an armpit of place.....make a run into the Walmart for last minute schtuff....hit the food king...scary place...lights are low so you can't see the flies...yuck...then southbound for Persimmon Gap...skip the C.d.'S in the dash...and jump to Radio K.A.O.S. in Marfa...their playing
anything from Sam Bush to Bottecelli...i like it until NPR comes on and off we go on the Obama/Hillary rompathon...so back to the deck...
i'm spinnin Rodney Crowell, Bob Dylan's the times are a Changin...and so on....kind of fitting for the country side...the weather is inpeciable...sky blue sky....Marathon's on the horizon and it's time for beer.....and lo i'm at Persimmon Gap...20 bucks and i'm off....towards the Chisos for the night....i'm running short on time but darned if i can't help stopping to take in the scenery.....the drive up to
the Chisos is going slower than expected due to my stopping and taking multiple pictures...some good some not so good...but the air is clear, brisk, and cool....the smell of juniper, and pine are wonderful.....well seems as though the newest and most prevelent occupant of the Chisos are Javelina's.....seem's they enjoy rumagaging campsites for viddles....as well as skunks...they seem to mind their business if you mind your own.....well i have located me
spot at the lowest part of the Chisos Camp Ground and am fairly secluded sans piggies...set up camp...start the stove...pop a beer...and veg.......tomorrow is a new day...
